New Case of Influenza A H1N1 from MAJU CAMP
I heard the news broadcaster mentioned something about 马裕军营 on the Channel 8 news just a while ago. Wait a minute... isn't that MAJU CAMP??? Holy crap, I have many friends working there, let's hope no one else is infected...
"Singapore has confirmed another 26 new H1N1 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 194.
10 of the new cases are local transmissions. Of these, four are from the Butter factory cluster, a popular night spot.
One is from River Life Church and another is from the Singapore Armed Forces Maju Camp..."

I DID IT!!!
I DID IT!!!
52 minutes is the time to beat. Guess what, my timing is 51m57s!! 3 seconds slower & I would have to do it all over again. What a close call~
The truth is, almost nothing went according to plan. After the swim, I had a bit of problem wearing my socks I dunno why. Went through the obstacles rather smoothly, off the ramp with a round of applause from the OCS cadets, which was really encouraging. I was minutes behind time after the up slope killer. Despite the fatigue, I pushed on.
450m from the end point, my stomach turned & I puked. I guess it wasn't a good idea to have roti prata with curry before a CPFT ;P The next thing I know, Sgt Song Po appeared from nowhere & was running with me. Alvin were yelling to me that there's only 20-seconds left. I gave it whatever I've got and sprint to the finishing line, had a last glimpse at the clock, and then I dropped to the ground with a huge sense of relief.

IPPT, SOC & CPFT are the 3 passing criteria for the PTI course. CPFT somehow resembles an army version of the modern biathlon, involving both swimming and running. Here is roughly its components, in sequence:
200m swim with long4 + rifle --> FBO 1.5km run --> clear SOC --> 3.5km rundown

PTI Goodie Bag we collected upon passing the course,

I love the golden cross swords =D

First IPPT in SISPEC

One week have passed, but training haven't really started. Can't say much about our training schedule & stuffs due to "security reasons", but seems like all book outs days are on Saturdays! Damn. And the food is horrible! I begin to miss the Tekong Cookhouse already.
We had IPPT yesterday morning, getting a Pass is as good as failing, since both have to stay back on Saturday for extra PT. Most of my section mates were aiming for a Silver, saying Gold is impossible bla bla bla. This kind of mindset is just not right for a future commander if you ask me. Heard of the saying "Aim for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars."? (Pls don't be lame and come tell me the nearest star is how many lightyears away) As for me, my only aim is for gold, nothing else.
So, 5 points for sit-up, 5 points for chin-ups, 5 points for SBJ, 4 points for shuttle run (3rd attempt after fouling twice), I'm on my way for gold! The route for 2.4km run was a difficult one, as there is a up slope section plus a U-turn. Wearing my own Nike Air running shoes did help, more on the mental side I would say. Though i missed gold by about 3~5sec, I'm happy to have clocked my best personal timing, for that i check-out!
Specialist Cadet Trainee
Most of your should know about it already, but I will still talk about it anyway. The picture above is the new SCT rank (Specialist Cadet Trainee), it looks like a 3SG rank cut into half, or rather three slanted bars to make it sound nicer, whatever.
First day in SISPEC is purely parade, feels like a second POP if you ask me. With new rank comes new responsibilites, I'm not too sure what they are at the moment. All I know is, allowance is $90/$20 over Private/Corporal ranks respectively. See the pay structure below:
