Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2 vs AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2: Part 1
Part 1: Introduction & Test Platform
Part 2: Benchmarks
Part 3: More Benchmarks & Conclusion
This is the full 9800GX2 review, an extract of the original, which is in Chinese. Since I have already introduced the card earlier on, so let's skip it and go straight to what you guys are here for - performance.
Debug-LED:
It's thoughtful for Nvidia to include a "debug LED" onto the card.
Red: PCIe power not connected
Yellow: PCIe power connected
Blue: Video output is normal
SLI issue:
Even after the driver is installed, SLI needs to be manually enabled and the system to be restarted (again!). This procedure is similar to the typical dual-card SLI. Whereas R680 is Crossfire enabled on default.
Screenshot shows the Nvidia CP prompting the user to restart the system to enable SLI
3DMark06 scored merely 7875 if SLI is not enabled.
To ensure maximum performance, SLI will be enabled in all tests to come.
Test Platform:
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 @ 3Ghz (333x9)
Asus Striker II Formula 780i
Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
PNY DDR2-1066 2x1GB @ (800 5-5-5-18)
